Fastenings for clothing, linings for axes and parts of tableware were also crafted from this easily workable material. Perhaps surprisingly, even wood can be worked with tools made from bone and antler. The marks left by this working are often still visible on wooden cups, bowls and ladles, even after thousands of years. Bone tools were evidently intended for long-term use, as they were frequently fitted with handles.
